Lawn Brown Spots

Instant Landscaping and McPheeters Turf refer to brown spots as "Stress Spots."  Stress Spots may start by many things, however, the treatment is the same. Even the worst of them, that may be the start of a fungus, can be slowed or eliminated by taking the following actions.

All most all sprinklers, on occasion, cannot produce large enough water particles to fully hydrate "Stress Spots."  Our secret weapon for attacking these spots is an Old Fashion "Owl Eye" Sprinkler. These simplistic heads are used just a couple evenings a week to fully penetrate your soil, then you resume your normal watering program.

FOR AREAS THAT HAVE  SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE (BARE DIRT SHOWING) TRY TO FIND THE TIME TO ALSO DO THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES. AERATE OR POKE DEEP HOLES IN AND AROUND THE DAMAGED LAWN. THE MORE HOLES THE BETTER, LARGER HOLES ARE BETTER THAN SMALL HOLES. IF NOTHING ELSE USE A BIG ROCK BAR OR A PIECE OF METAL REBAR TO POKE THE HOLES. HAND APPLY YELLOW LABEL MCPHEETERS FERTILIZER AT A RATE SIMILAR TO THE WAY YOU WOULD SALT AND PEPPER A STEAK, TO EACH STRESS SPOT OR AREA. MCPHEETERS YELLOW LABEL FERTILIZER IS SO ACCURATE THAT SMALL AMOUNTS  LIKE THIS CAN BE APPLIED EVERY 7-10 DAYS UNTIL THE AREA WAKES UP, GROWS FASTER AND STARTS TO FILL IN.
